I've noticed a major difference between Republicans and Democrats with the imminent inauguration of President-elect Obama. Most of my conservative friends have a genuine hope that Obama does well and that the country will flourish under his leadership. This is reflected in national polls as well.
Over the past eight years, liberals displayed true hatred for President Bush and anyone in his administration, and happiness at any harm that befell the country, hoping for political gain.
Republicans think of the country first, and political power second. I guess that's why John McCain chose that as a campaign slogan -- Country First. OTOH, Democrats think of political power first and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they think of country second. But I'm not so sure about that.
